Ballot for 2024 T20 cricket world cup is live: How to score tickets for matches in U.S.


As the T20 Cricket World Cup inches closer, the International Cricket Council has opened the public ticket ballot for the upcoming cricket fiesta to be held from June 1 to 29 in the U.S. and the Caribbean.

Fifty-five matches will be played across nine cities – three in the U.S. and six in the Caribbean, according to the I.C.C., with the opening match between Canada and the U.S. to be held on June 1 in Dallas, and the grand finale on June 29 in Barbados. The semi-finals will take place in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana.

New York City will host the much-anticipated clash between Pakistan and India on June 9, according to the schedule released by the ICC.

England enters the year as defending champions, having beaten Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup final in Melbourne. The series will mark Canada, USA and Uganda's first appearances at a Men's T20 World Cup.

Where can I get T20 World Cup match tickets?

The T20 World Cup tickets are available through a public ballot which will be live from Feb. 1 to until 11:59 p.m. Antigua Standard Time / 10:59 p.m. EST on Feb. 7.

The public ticket ballot has been introduced to "give the fans a fair and equitable chance to apply for tickets," said the ICC in a press release.

Tickets through the ballot will not be given on a first-come-first-served basis but will be chosen at random after all the applications have been received within the seven-day window.

Once the ballot is closed, successful applicants will be notified of "what matches they have secured tickets to and will be provided with a link through which payments will need to be made" within an alloted time, says the ICC.

Tickets for which payments have not been received will be returned to the pool of tickets that will be released for general sale on Feb. 22 on a first-come, first-served basis.

“The ticket ballot process will give all fans from across the world an equal opportunity to get their hands on tickets and applications can be made at any point over the next seven days, as long as it is submitted by the closing time and date," said ICC Head of Events Chris Tetley in a statement.

A limited number of venue packages are also available on a first-come, first-serve bases through which fans can secure spots to all Group Stage & Super 8 matches at a single venue. The venue packages include local sales taxes. Currently, venue packages for New York, Texas and Florida are available only with the rest coming soon, according to the ballot website.

What ticket categories are available?

Tickets are available in the following categories, depending on the stadiums and venues:

  • Premium
  • Standard Plus
  • Standard
  • Grounds and Mounds / Standing Room Only (SRO)

ICC said all stadiums in the event are "divided into different enclosures which have different views of the field of play and may have differing degrees of shade".

How many tickets can I apply for?

Fans can request up to 6 tickets per match and for as many matches as they want at any stage during the ballot period, says the ICC.

How much do the T20 Cricket World Cup tickets cost?

Match tickets start at $6 and go up to $400, as per the ballot website, depending on the match locations and teams. The most expensive ticket is for premium seating at the Pakistan vs. India match on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York City.

Prices listed on the website do not include taxes, which will be applied to ticket prices where applicable during the checkout process, said the ICC.

However, "no additional fees will be imposed beyond the specified taxes".

  • Grand Prairie Stadium – Grand Prairie, Texas, USA

  • Kensington Oval – Bridgetown, Barbados
  • Daren Sammy Cricket Ground – Gros Islet, Saint Lucia
  • Arnos Vale Stadium – Kingstown, Saint Vincent
  • Brian Lara Cricket Academy – San Fernando, Trinidad
