Timothy Bradley to face Jessie Vargas on June 27 at StubHub Center
LAS VEGAS - Timothy Bradley's first bout of 2015 is finally set.
The two-division champion will face Jessie Vargas in an HBO welterweight matchup June 27 at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., Bradley's wife and manager Monica told Paste BN Sports on Friday. Top Rank president Todd duBoef confirmed the news, but the fight has not yet been formally announced.
"I'm always facing top competition. He's undefeated. … I'm a risk taker. It's me and him that night, no matter how it looks on paper," said Bradley, who was on hand at The Cosmopolitan to do commentary for the debut of truTV's boxing series. "… I'm excited just to come back and fight, period. I'm just excited to get back in the ring, man."
The Cosmopolitan was the site of Bradley's last bout, a controversial draw against Diego Chaves in December 2014. Most observers thought Bradley deserved the nod, but the 31-year-old isn't dwelling on it.
"It is what it is, you can't do anything about the judges," Bradley said. "I can't change the tide on that. I thought I won the fight, but the judges felt that it was a draw. Many people watching felt I won the fight, so whatever."

Vargas (26-0, 9 KOs) currently holds the WBA's "regular" title at junior welterweight but will move up seven pounds for the opportunity. Though he's undefeated, the 25-year-old has yet to face anyone approaching the caliber of Bradley and will be a decided underdog.
Bradley, of course, owns a controversial win over Manny Pacquiao (before handily losing in the rematch) and a signature victory over Juan Manuel Marquez from October 2013. That's wins over two future Hall of Famers.
The most notable name on Vargas' resume is a faded Antonio DeMarco, whom he topped in his last outing.
Bradley (31-1-1, 12 KOs) is returning to StubHub Center, site of his war with Ruslan Provodnikov that garnered 2013 Fight of the Year honors from the Boxing Writers Association of America. Bradley says he wants to put on another good show, but isn't going that far.
"I'm not going in that type of fight ever again," Bradley said sternly. "That Provodnikov fight, that's the last type of fight you're going to see me fight like that."
