Robert Guerrero-Aron Martinez announced for June 6 on NBC

"The Ghost" is on the comeback trail once again.

Robert Guerrero will return June 6 against Aron Martinez in a welterweight bout at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., in another edition of Premier Boxing Champions on NBC, organizers announced Monday.

"I'm very happy to be making a quick return to the ring, especially on NBC," said Guerrero, 32. "It's an honor to be fighting at StubHub Center once again as the main event. I'm going to bring it like always and give the fans an exciting fight. I can't wait for the bell to ring!"

Guerrero (32-3-1, 18 KOs), who dropped a lopsided decision to Keith Thurman in March, is taking a step back against the unheralded Martinez. The four-division titleholder is best known for a 2013 loss to Floyd Mayweather, but owns wins over Andre Berto, Michael Katsidis and Malcolm Klassen.

The Gilroy, Calif., native also returns to StubHub Center, the site of his 2014 Fight of the Year candidate against Yoshihiro Kamegai. Against the light-hitting Martinez (19-3-1, 4 KOs), he'll be facing a man who hasn't fought in over a year and lost in that very bout, a TKO at the hands of Josesito Lopez. It amounts to a comeback fight for Guerrero, one designed to get him back in the win column and spring him to another meaningful matchup in a packed 147-pound division.

"I'm very thankful for the opportunity to fight Robert Guerrero on network television," said Martinez. "Since my last fight, I've been in the gym working extremely hard. I want to shock the world and beat 'The Ghost.' Make no mistake about it, I'm coming to win."

Rounding out the card are local favorites Chris Arreola and Alfredo Angulo in separate bouts, in addition to a featherweight fight between Jesus Cuellar and Vic Darchinyan.

Fortunately, it's an afternoon telecast (3 p.m. ET), so the card won't conflict with HBO's coverage of Miguel Cotto-Daniel Geale.
