Gennady Golovkin says British website fabricated interview quotes
Undefeated middleweight champion and one of boxing's top knockout artists Gennady Golovkin on Saturday denied that quotes attributed to him in an extensive question-and-answer interview with the London-based website City A.M. on Friday were actually his own.
Golovkin's handlers said the "interview" contained fabricated quotes from him, quotes which were also picked up by other media outlets.
"These are not my words in this interview, " said Golovkin in a statement.
Tom Loeffler, managing director of K2 Promotions, which handles Golovkin's career, said in a statement that "It's unfortunate that this interview was posted online and considered by many to be Gennady's quotes, none of which are his statements.

"We are currently conducting negotiations for Gennady's next fight and will not be commenting on any speculation about opponents. We understand the extraordinary interest worldwide in Gennady and look forward to making an official announcement at the appropriate time."
In the site's Q&A, Golovkin was quoted as saying he was interested in fighting the U.K.'s Carl Froch and Floyd Mayweather, and that Andre Ward had turned down a fight with him, and that "It is frustrating that very few fighters are prepared to get in the ring with me… Certain fighters use my name with no intention of fighting me. That is frustrating as they are all talk."

In an email sent to Paste BN Sports Saturday evening, Frank Dalleres, sports editor of Cityam.com, wrote, "I've recently been made aware that there is some dispute as to these statements. I am looking into it and will respond in due course but it may not be today due to time differences."
On Sunday morning, Dalleres said City A.M. stands by its story.
Golovkin, one of the world's most feared and dominant fighters, is 33-0 with 30 stoppages, a knockout percentage of 91% , the highest in middleweight division history. He has recorded 20 consecutive knockouts.
