Carl Froch: I'm 'too big and too strong' for Gennady Golovkin

Carl Froch might not be willing to show the world in the ring, but he's brave enough to say it on Twitter.

The former super middleweight champion is nearing retirement, but if he has one more fight left in him, it could be against boxing's boogeyman:

Too big & too strong for GGG… pic.twitter.com/WIfhNImCIk- Carl Froch (@Carl_Froch) July 4, 2015However, "The Cobra" might not be willing to back up his big words. He was pressed on Twitter but was evasive on whether he would actually answer the call to fight Gennady Golovkin in a matchup that would whet the appetite of fans dying to see GGG in a big fight.GOLOVKIN: Web site fabricated quotes from meEddie Hearn, who promotes Froch, told Paste BN Sports in May that Froch was considering a bout against Golovkin, but talks then grew stagnant. Golovkin's promoter, Tom Loeffler, said that a potential bout would take place at the super middleweight limit of 168 pounds and that it could be on HBO pay-per-view. However, he tweeted that there's been "just photos from Carl Froch, no word from Eddie Hearn."Froch has always been willing to fight the best and owns wins against the likes of Jean Pascal, Jermain Taylor, George Groves and Andre Dirrell. The Englishman lost to Andre Ward in 2011, but is likely headed to the Hall of Fame with his outstanding resume. While he would be an underdog against Golovkin, the matchup is excellent on paper. Froch would be the bigger man (as he said), possesses good power and has one of the best chins in the sport. It would be a quantum leap in class for the middleweight destroyer and one of the biggest fights of the year. Golovkin, of course, has scored 20 consecutive knockouts. Now we need Froch to sign a contract and save the social media bravado for the promotion.
