Sergio Mora suffered fractured ankle in loss to Daniel Jacobs
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Sergio Mora came up limping after a second-round knockdown to Daniel Jacobs on Saturday and was unable to continue.
It was a shame because the fight was shaping up to be a slugfest. The middleweights traded knockdowns in Round 1, but when Jacobs dropped Mora in the second frame, it was obvious the former Contender star could barely walk and referee Gary Rosato was forced to call the bout.
Mora said afterward that he was positive his ankle was broken and he left the arena on a stretcher for Lutheran Medical Center. Promoter Lou DiBella told Paste BN Sports on Sunday that the right ankle is indeed fractured. Mora also suffered a knee injury, but the ailments are not career-threatening.

"Let's make this rematch happen," Mora said via his verified Twitter account. "I'm a 12-round fighter and we had nine more rounds to go."
Jacobs, however, said he had no interest in a return encounter and instead is headed toward a fight with Peter Quillin in December.
"The Latin Snake" lost, but he did more in defeat than in many victories, and with the fan-friendly style he displayed on ESPN, he figures to get another TV matchup when he's healed.
