Jermall Charlo says he'll challenge Cornelius Bundrage for IBF title Sept. 12
Charlo, the IBF's No. 1 contender at 154 pounds, was slated to fight Bundrage on July 18, but the 42-year-old suffered a cut in training. Now the bout has been rescheduled and will take place at the Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., according to Charlo.
Charlo (21-0, 16 KOs) was originally supposed to fight for the title in 2014 against Carlos Molina, but that fight, too, was scrapped. Molina was jailed the week of the fight due to immigration issues and it's been a long wait for his title chance.
Bundrage (34-5, 19 KOs) regained the strap with a wide-points victory over Molina in October. The savvy vet has far more experience but will be the underdog against the talented foe 17 years his junior.
Jermall's older brother, Jermell, is also an undefeated junior middleweight contender.
