Peter Quillin-Danny Jacobs pegged for Dec. 5 on Showtime

Peter Quillin fights Saturday afternoon, but if all goes according to plan, he has a far bigger matchupE set for the end of 2015.

If Quillin tops Michael Zerafa (as expected) and doesn't suffer any cuts or injuries, he will face middleweight titleholder Danny Jacobs in a bout years in the making on Dec. 5 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., Showtime Sports GM Stephen Espinoza told Paste BN Sports.

The contracts are signed for the all-Brooklyn showdown, Espinoza said, and all Quillin has to do is take care of business this weekend.

Quillin (31-0-1, 22 KOs) and Jacobs have been on a collision course for some time. "Kid Chocolate" fought to a draw with Andy Lee in a bid to reclaim a piece of the middleweight championship in April and suffered the first knockdown of his career in that fight. He's yet to taste defeat but is facing a stern test in Jacobs.

Jacobs (30-1, 27 KOs) stopped Sergio Mora in his last outing and also tasted the canvas in that fight. Known as "The Miracle Man," he overcame a life-threatening form of bone cancer in 2011 and was able to rejuvenate his boxing career.
