Wladimir Klitschko exercises rematch clause for heavyweight title bout vs. Tyson Fury

Wladimir Klitschko is coming to get his belts back.

He was shocked by Tyson Fury on Saturday in a dreadful performance, but announced Wednesday he has exercised the rematch clause in the contract. Fury won via unanimous decision to claim the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight championship.

"I was really frustrated directly after the fight but after some short nights I now know that I want to show that I am much better than my performance on Saturday," Klitschko, 39, said. 'I couldn't show my full potential at any time. This is what I want to change in the rematch - and I will. Failure is not an option."

Fury was a big underdog, but his superior size, awkwardness and feints befuddled the Ukrainian and handed him his first loss in 11-plus years. The undefeated Brit claimed the lineal heavyweight championship with the victory, a bout in which Klitschko only landed 52 punches. Klitschko is already a first-ballot Hall of Famer when he decides to hang up the gloves, but obviously doesn't want to go out on such a sour note.

"There will be a huge worldwide interest in this fight which already can be billed as the fight of the year 2016," said Klitschko's manager, Bernd Bönte. "We received so many questions of fans and journalists after last Saturday. The new champion and his challenger will answer all of them inside the ring."

The particulars will need to be worked out, such as the date and location. But one thing is clear: Klitschko is coming for revenge.
