Jason Sosa upsets Javier Fortuna with 11th round KO in 130-pound bout in China
Jason Sosa scored an upset of Javier Fortuna on Friday in China with an 11th-round KO in a 130-pound bout the WBA termed a title affair.
Only the WBA already has a champion, Jezreel Corrales, who upset Takashi Uchiyama earlier this year. Corrales is the WBA's "super" champ.
Sosa drilled Fortuna (29-1-1, 21 KOs) with an overhand right, and then connected with a flurry in the corner, dropping the Dominican. Fortuna beat the count, but clearly was in no shape to continue and referee Raul Caiz Jr. stopped the contest.

The 28-year-old from Camden, N.J., received a big assignment in December with his HBO debut, a fight against renowned puncher Nicholas Walters. They officially fought to a draw, but most ringside observers felt Walters easily won. There was no controversy this time, though. Sosa (19-1-4, 15 KOs) now holds a belt and will move on to bigger and better fights. And it's a big setback for Fortuna, a once highly regarded prospect who has shown a weak chin in the past. The 26-year-old was rated No. 8 by BoxingJunkie.(Photo of Sosa, right, by Alex Menendez/HoganPhotos)
