Anthony Joshua's next heavyweight title defense set for Nov. 26 in Manchester
The front-runner for future face of boxing is getting ready for another heavyweight title defense.
It was revealed Friday by promoter Eddie Hearn that Anthony Joshua will put his IBF title on the line for the second time on Nov. 26 at Manchester Arena in England. The opponent will be announced the week of Sept. 26.
"When I first started my professional career I travelled all round the country fighting, which I loved. This is taking me back to the grassroots," said Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs), a 2012 Olympic gold medalist. "I can't wait to get back up north and show the people of Manchester how much I have improved since the last time I was there.
"I have been inspired over the summer by the fighters in the Olympics, it has given me a new perspective and huge hunger to get back in ring."
The 26-year-old won the title with a second-round KO of undeserving champion Charles Martin in April and successfully defended with a knockout of Dominic Breazeale over the summer.
Joshua's last two fights were shown live on Showtime in the U.S. Paste BN Sports reached out to the network regarding broadcast of this next fight but is awaiting comment.
Considering the delay in opponent announcement, fans shouldn't expect Joshua to fight a tough foe in November.
