Georgia women's swimming team wins 100th consecutive meet at home
The No. 1-ranked Georgia women’s swimming and diving team whipped No. 17 Wisconsin on Saturday to complete a 14-0 regular season and notch its 100th consecutive win at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.
The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Badgers 172-123 to extend their Division I swimming and diving record that began on Nov. 8, 1995. Georgia is 101-1 all time in Gabrielsen Natatorium.
“Winning 100 consecutive meets at home is a funny feeling,” Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle said. “I feel like I’ve seen part of my life flash before my eyes. It’s a little bit a feeling of relief, but mostly appreciation. It’s a big point of pride for our program and for Georgia athletics.”
The men's team, ranked No. 4, also won, 172-122.
Georgia will compete in the SEC Championship Feb. 16-20 in Columbia, Mo.
