Virginia baseball team bus crashes after driver goes unconscious

The University of Virginia baseball team's bus crashed into several vehicles on Thursday in Miami after the driver fell unconscious behind the wheel, according to multiple media reports.

No Cavaliers players or staff were injured in the crash. UVa staff members tried to gain control of the bus on U.S. 1 before it hit three cars and a scooter before crashing into a tree. The driver, who experienced a medical emergency, was taken to the hospital in serious condition after the crash. UVa staff provided aid to the driver until Miami Fire and Rescue crews arrived.

The team was traveling from the Miami airport to its hotel, where they eventually ended up Thursday night.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the bus driver and his family," a university spokesperson said in a statement.
