Washington State is set to hire Florida Atlantic’s Pat Chun as its next athletics director, a person with knowledge of the situation told Paste BN Sports. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the school had not publicly announced the hire as of Tuesday night.

Chun is scheduled to be introduced at a news conference in Pullman, Wash., on Wednesday. He is believed to be the first Asian-American to be hired as an athletics director at the Power Five level.

Chun was a star fundraiser at Ohio State before getting the job at FAU in 2012. That became a much more high-profile position in the last year as Chun hired Lane Kiffin to be the football coach, sparking an immediate turnaround that resulted in a Conference USA championship.

Chun now goes from working with one of college football’s biggest personalities in Kiffin to another in Mike Leach.

Chun will replace Bill Moos, who left for Nebraska last fall.
