NCAA gymnastics regionals 2025: LSU, Utah, UCLA women advance, highlights

No. 1 LSU and No. 5 UCLA are among the women’s gymnastics teams competing Saturday for a spot in the NCAA championships.

Olympic gold medalist Jordan Chiles leads the Bruins, who will compete in the Utah regional final along with No. 4 Utah, No. 10 Minnesota and No. 18 Denver.

Senior Aleah Finnegan and freshman Kailin Chio lead LSU, who advance to the Penn State regional final along with No. 8 Michigan State, No. 9 Kentucky and No. 16 Arkansas. LSU won the school’s first national title last season in the sport, and Finnegan is the reigning NCAA floor national champion.

The top two teams from each of the four regional finals will advance to the NCAA Championships beginning April 17 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Regional finals continue Sunday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Seattle. Here's a look at the bracket.

Top all-around competitors and event specialists on each event (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will also advance to the national championships.

Grace McCallum's all-around title

Grace McCallum won the all-around at the Utah regional final with a score of 39.725, finishing ahead of runner-up Chae Campbell of UCLA with 39.550.

Denver's Madison Ulrich and UCLA's Jordan Chiles tied for third (39.525).

Utah, UCLA are advancing to NCAAs

Utah and UCLA move on to the national semifinals after finishing 1-2. Zoe Johnson's 9.950 on vault in the last rotation helped keep the Red Rocks on top. Utah advanced to its 49th consecutive NCAA championship, the only program to qualify for every national championship.

Utah moves to first through three rotations

Utah scored it season-high on floor with 49.625 to take the lead at its regional, followed by UCLA, Denver and Minnesota.

Denver starts strong on floor, beam

Through two rotations, Denver leads the Utah regional followed by UCLA, Utah and Minnesota. Madison Ulrich had a strong floor routine (9.950) and was tied for the lead.

Grace McCallum scores a perfect 10 on bars

Utah's Grace McCallum scored a perfect 10 on bars at the Utah regional final. McCallum, a silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, is the Big 12 gymnast of the year. Coming into the regional, she leads her team with 24 event wins in 2025.

Nikki Smith wins all-around at Pennsylvania regional

Nikki Smith, the Big Ten gymnast of the year for Michigan State, won the all-around title with a 39.6500, beating Arkansas' Joscelyn Roberson with a 39.6250.

LSU's Aleah Finnegan won an individual regional title on floor, scoring 9.9750.

LSU, Michigan State advance to NCAA national semifinals

Michigan State is heading to the national championship for the first time since 1988, according to ESPN. Nikki Smith's 9.8750 helped seal the team's trip to Fort Worth. The Spartans finished with a 198.000 to take second behind reigning national champion LSU's 198.050. It's the 15th regional championship for the Tigers.

LSU leading the way

Through three rotations, No. 1 LSU leads with the last rotation coming on vault for the Tigers. Finnegan scored 9.975 to lead the team on floor.

LSU sets a record score on beam

LSU has to be happy with how this regional competition is going so far. With Aleah Finnegan and Kailin Chio leading the way with scores of 9.950, LSU had a team score of 49.675, which is the highest beam score at a regional in program history. Arkansas' Joscelyn Roberson also had a 9.950.

LSU's Kailin Choi, this year’s SEC freshman of the year, had a strong debut at her first regionals. She claimed a share of the floor (9.925) and all-around titles (39.625), along with teammate Aleah Finnegan. Finnegan also claimed a share of the beam title (9.950).

UCLA’s Jordan Chiles, a two-time Olympian, had three scores of 9.950 or higher and finished with the top all-around total of the session (39.600). She had season-high scores on vault (9.950) and on balance beam (9.950). Teammate Brookyln Moors, a graduate student who competed on Canada’s 2020 Olympic team, had a career-high on vault of 9.925.

The Bruins have won 24 NCAA regional titles, the last coming in 2019.

Utah’s Avery Neff (vault) and Grace McCallum (bars) were regional semifinal champions and Neff was also co-champion in the all-around.
