College basketball rankings: SEC teams in updated Coaches Poll, AP Top 25

A new team holds the honors of being the top-ranked college basketball team in the country.

Newsflash: It's still a team from the SEC — talk about a juggernaut of a conference.

Holding that spot now is No. 1 Auburn, who staved off a near upset on Saturday to South Carolina on the road after Gamecocks forward Nick Pringle missed both free throws in the final seconds of the second half. Auburn lost star forward Johni Broome in the win with a sprained left ankle, which will likely sideline him for some time.

No. 6 Tennessee's undefeated season came to an end on Tuesday against No. 4 Florida. Todd Golden's Gators held the Vols to their lowest point total (43) and field-goal percentage (21.4%) of the Rick Barnes era. They bounced back on Saturday at Texas to split the week at 1-1.

With it's win over Tennessee, Florida itself move into the top-5 after knocking on the door heading into last week. Arkansas' slow start to conference play continued, as John Calipari's Razorbacks fell to Florida at home on Saturday 71-63.

Elsewhere, No. 5 Alabama and No. 9 Kentucky picked up signature road wins at then-No. 9 Texas A&M and then-No. 13 Mississippi State respectively. The Wildcats fell to Georgia on the road earlier in the week, giving Mark Pope's squad their third loss already of the season.

Georgia moved into both Paste BN Sports Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 poll at No. 23 with back-to-back ranked wins against Kentucky and No. 17 Oklahoma.

Here's how last week's results in the SEC were reflected in the Paste BN Sports Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 poll:
