But why is the actor a Texas Longhorns fan?
Here's what to know about McConaughey's Texas football fandom ahead of the Peach Bowl on Jan. 1, 2025, which pits McConaughey's Longhorns, the No. 5 seed in the College Football Playoff, against the No. 4 seeded Arizona State Sun Devils.
The game will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta at 11 a.m. MST (1 p.m. ET), with the winner advancing to the CFP semifinals.

Why is Matthew McConaughey a Texas Longhorns fan?
McConaughey, a Texas native, was born in Uvalde, Texas, in 1969.
He attended Texas from 1989-93 and lives in Austin with his family.
Interestingly, he is a professor at the university in the college of communication (with a bio on the Moody College of Communication's site).

McConaughey can frequently be seen on the sideline at Texas games and led Longhorns fans in a cheer after Texas defeated No. 12 Clemson in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Saturday at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday, 38-24.
McConaughey's X account is full of posts supporting his Longhorns.
