Where is Arizona State football in US LBM Coaches Poll preseason Top 25?

What a difference a season can make.

The Arizona State football team opened the 2024-25 college football season ranked No. 16 in the Big 12, being picked to finish last in the conference.

Where is ASU ranked?

Now, after winning the conference a year ago, the Sun Devils are ranked No. 11 in the entire country in the US LBM Coaches Poll preseason Top 25 ranking that came out on Aug. 4.

ASU football leads five Big 12 teams in the ranking, with Kansas State at No. 20, Iowa State at No. 21, BYU at No. 23 and Texas Tech at No. 24.

In a team preview for all 25 teams in the ranking, Paste BN Sports writes of Kenny Dillingham's team: "Can the Sun Devils build on the momentum of last year and avoid being a one-hit wonder? That’s the task for third-year coach Kenny Dillingham. He’ll have QB Sam Leavitt and WR Jordyn Tyson to lead the offense. The defense returns loads of experience with DB Xavion Alford leading a group that should show major improvement."

Arizona State shocked the Big 12, and much of college football, when it went 11-3 overall last season and 7-2 in the Big 12 Conference in its first season in the conference.

The Sun Devils defeated Iowa State in the Big 12 title game, 45-19, before losing to Texas 39-31 in overtime of the Peach Bowl of the College Football Playoff.

According to their preseason ranking this season, ASU football won't be shocking anyone with a stellar season this year.

Arizona State opens the season on Aug. 30 against Northern Arizona.

Texas is the preseason No. 1 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, with Ohio State No. 2 and Penn State No. 3.

Georgia opens at No. 4 and Notre Dame is No. 5.
