Tournament field set for NCAA lacrosse championships
The NCAA Division I men's lacrosse tournament bracket is out, and as always, it won't make everybody happy.
Notre Dame was made the overall No.1 seed.
The Fighting Irish swept its regular-season run through the rugged Atlantic Coast Conference and, despite a semifinal loss in the ACC tournament, received the top spot ahead of Syracuse. But the Orange, who won the ACC tourney title, aren't likely to complain about being seeded second. Both teams will host play-in winners in their round-of-16 contests next weekend.
All five ACC teams made the field as expected. The Ivy League has three representatives as does the Big Ten, which is in its inaugural year of sponsoring the sport. Yale secured the final automatic berth on Sunday with an 11-10 triumph against Princeton in the Ivy tournament final. The loss proved costly for the Tigers, who were edged out of the bracket by fellow league members Cornell and Brown.
