Texas football: QB Quinn Ewers addresses report about a $6 million offer to transfer
GRAPEVINE — Even though Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers still has one or two games left in this football season, speculation about his future remains a hot topic.
Will Ewers return to Texas for the 2025 season? Or will he declare for the NFL draft? Or will he enter the transfer portal and play out his eligibility elsewhere?
For his part, Ewers has avoided questions about his future as if those questions were a pass rush. Texas' third-year starter has consistently insisted that he’s just focused on the task at hand, which for the Longhorns includes Friday's showdown with Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinals in the Cotton Bowl.

Earlier this month, however, On3 published a report about Ewers citing sources that Ewers had been offered $6 million to enter the transfer portal. The report did not tie any teams to that $6 million offer nor did it say if Ewers, who is currently rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 8 quarterback prospect in this spring's draft, was interested in transferring.
When asked multiple times about the $6 million offer during Wednesday's Cotton Bowl media availability, Ewers did not confirm or deny the report. He maintained his stance that he's been solely focused on trying to win a national championship with the Longhorns.
"I think that's selfish of me to be even thinking about it or looking at that," Ewers said. "I owe my teammates the best version of me right now. I can't be looking forward or I'll trip on the rock that's sitting right in front of me. I've got to be locked in on what's right here."
Entering Friday's semifinals of the College Football Playoff, Ewers has thrown for 3,189 yards, 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this season while completing 66.5% of his passes. During the CFP quarterfinals, Ewers' overtime heroics lifted Texas to a 39-31 win over Arizona State.
