LSU football standout wide receiver Kyren Lacy is wanted on negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run and reckless operation of a vehicle charges.

In an issued press release, the Louisiana State Police said it began investigating a fatal accident that happened on Louisiana Highway 20 on Dec. 17. Herman Hall, age 78 and a former Marine, was killed in a head-on collision while he was a passenger in a 2017 Kia Sorrento that was involved in the incident.

Through the investigation, police determined that Lacy, driving in a 2023 Dodge Charger, "recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline" into the oncoming lane of traffic in a don't pass zone.

A pickup truck slammed on brakes and swerved right onto the shoulder of the highway to avoid a collision with Lacy's vehicle and a 2017 Kia Cadenza quickly veered to the left to evade Lacy, but it made head-on impact with the Kia Sorrento.

Hall was transported to a local hospital where he died from injuries sustained during the accident.

State Police say Lacy "drove the crash scene" following the accident and fled without stopping to help or report the crash and his involvement in it.

An LSU football spokesperson declined comment to The Daily Advertiser Friday.

"We have no comment at this time out of respect for the legal process."

The investigation into crash remains ongoing, State Police say, adding that they are in communication with Lacy and his legal representation to turn himself in.

Lacy announced he was entering the 2025 NFL Draft two days following the reported date of the fatal crash. He did not have any eligibility remaining in his college career and he had already opted out of the playing in the Texas Bowl with the Tigers.

The playmaker began his career at Louisiana, where he played two seasons with the Ragin' Cajuns before transferring to LSU ahead of the 2022 season.

He finished his career with 162 receptions for 2,360 yards and 26 touchdowns. At LSU, Lacy had 112 catches for 1,628 yards and 16 TDs. As a senior in 2024, Lacy posted a career-high 58 catches for 866 yards and nine scores.
