The Indiana Pacers traded to acquire Marquette star Kam Jones No. 38 in the 2025 NBA draft on June 26 from the San Antonio Spurs.

After the senior earned consensus second-team All-American honors for his performance this past season, it seemed as though it was only a matter of time regarding when Jones would be selected in the NBA draft.

ESPN draft analyst Jonathan Givony assessed Jones as a prospect, calling him one of the best pick-and-roll creators in the country despite playing off-ball as a junior.

“His decisiveness as a passer and scorer stood out, but his streaky shooting from beyond the arc and middling defensive impact give him some areas to work on as he looks to demonstrate that his game translates to higher levels of competition,” Givony wrote.

In each of Jones’ four seasons suiting up for the Golden Eagles, he increased his scoring average.

During Jones’ senior season, he averaged 19.2 points per game while shooting 48.3% from the field. However, his 31.1% efficiency from three-point range in his final season was far below the 38.3% he’d converted on his first three seasons at Marquette.

Here’s how social media reacted to Jones being chosen in round two.
