The Marquette men’s basketball team reached across the globe to get a long-distance shooter.

Australia native Nash Walker, a 6-foot-6 left-handed sharpshooter from the NBA Global Academy, announced his commitment to the Golden Eagles on July 9.

Walker becomes the third member of the 2026 class, joining 6-7 wing Ethan Johnston and 6-11 big man Sheek Pearson.

Ben Gold also went to NBA Global Academy

MU has connections at the NBA Global Academy, which also produced current Golden Eagles player Ben Gold.

Walker, who hails from Tasmania, has competed for Australia’s junior national teams. He played for the Boomers at the just-competed FIBA U19 World Cup, though he didn’t see much playing time over five games as one of the younger players.

Nash Walker is known as a shooter

He has a reputation for being a lights-out shooter, and was a key player on Australia’s U17 team last year. Over 13 games in 2024 with the Boomers, he shot 17 for 49 (34.6%) on three-pointers.

The Golden Eagles have not been an elite three-point shooting team in four seasons under head coach Shaka Smart, finishing 237th in the nation last season at 32.6%, 106th in 2023-24 at 35.2%, 101st in 2022-23 at 35.3%, and 123rd in 2021-22 at 34.4%.

With Gold and Chase Ross set to graduate after next season and two current open scholarship slots, MU would have room for one more player for the 2026-27 roster pending no departures.
