Texas vs. Stanford softball: Predictions, odds, how to watch WCWS semifinal
Four days ago, the Texas Longhorns, the nation's top-ranked softball team, took down the Stanford Cardinal and their ace pitcher, NiJaree Canady, to move closer to the Women's College World Series Finals. Well, now the Longhorns will have to do it again.
The No. 8 Stanford Cardinal have managed to stay alive since their opening round loss to Texas. While Texas is not facing elimination in tonight's game, a win would immediately push them into the WCWS Finals without having to worry about staving off elimination in a final do-or-die contest. Basically, while this isn't a must-win for Texas, it would certainly save them a lot of time and worry to win in tonight's first game.
As for Stanford, it will take everything they have to win the first game, let alone two straight against the nation's top team. Here's everything you need to know about this matchup.

Predictions for Texas vs. Stanford WCWS semifinal:
Thomas Jones, Austin American-Statesman: Texas 3, Stanford 1
Jones writes, "Canady gives Stanford a chance in any game she pitches, but the deepest lineup in the nation should generate enough against the sophomore ace."
Bryan Clinton, Heartland College Sports: Texas wins
Clinton writes, "I think we will see an absolute gem from NiJaree Canady, who will once again be pitching with her team’s postseason dreams hanging in the balance. But also, I believe that the inevitability of Texas is just too much for the Cardinal to overcome. I see the Longhorns winning this without the need for an if-necessary game, but even if we do see that extra matchup, I just have a hard time seeing Canady go in back-to-back complete games against UT and maintaining full effectiveness all the way through."
