Texas A&M softball kicks off its trek to the Women's College World Series when it takes on Saint Francis in the Bryan-College Station Regional on Friday.

The No. 1 Aggies earned the top ranking of the NCAA softball tournament, one spot ahead of four-time reigning national champions Oklahoma. Texas A&M put together its best regular season ever, finishing first in the NCAA's RPI.

Texas A&M hasn't reached the WCWS since 2008, having last won national titles in 1983 and 1987. It'll take on one of the lowest-seeded teams in Saint Francis (26-24), who reached the NCAA Tournament after winning the NEC conference tournament.

The Aggies are led by Emiley Kennedy and Mya Perez, who were both first-team All-SEC selections this season.
