Texas A&M softball earned the No. 1 overall seed in the 2025 NCAA softball tournament but has almost immediately found its back against the wall.
The top-seeded Aggies fell to Liberty 8-5 in Saturday's winner's bracket game in the Bryan-College Station Regional in College Station, Texas, on Saturday to send Texas A&M to the loser's bracket. The Aggies will play the winner of St. Francis (Pa.) and Marist, needing to win three games over the next two days to advance to the super regionals.
The Aggies had won four in a row before Saturday's loss to the Lady Flames, all of which came by the run-rule. Texas A&M opened the tournament with a dominant 18-0 run-rule victory over the St. Francis Red Flash. Now, the Aggies will need to re-establish their footing as the best team in the country.
