NCAA softball tournament bracket, TV schedule for college softball 2025 super regionals
The Women’s College World Series is a step in the journey to a championship that, for many college softball teams, can serve as a destination. Merely being one of the eight teams that makes it to Oklahoma City for the WCWS is validation and a sign of a program’s strength.
Over the next several days, those dreams for some will become a reality, while others will fall painfully short of the biggest stage their sport has to offer.
The eight-team field for the WCWS will be set this week with the super regional round of the 2025 NCAA softball tournament, with eight best-of-three series determining who will make it to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to compete for a national title.
There are some notable absences from the 16 teams remaining.
No. 1 overall seed Texas A&M was stunned in its regional, losing twice to Liberty to become the first No. 1 team to be eliminated in the regional round since seeding began in 2005. The Aggies weren’t the only one of the 16 national seeds and regional hosts to fall, as No. 10 seed LSU, No. 13 seed Arizona and No. 14 seed Duke were bounced as well.
Even with Texas A&M and LSU’s stumbles, the SEC is still well represented in the super regionals, with nine of the conference’s programs still remaining. (Indeed, two unseeded SEC teams were responsible for nationally seeded teams failing to advance).
