Former Tour de France champ Jan Ullrich detained after alleged altercation with escort

Former Tour de France champion Jan Ullrich was taken into custody early Friday in Germany following an alleged altercation with an escort at a Frankfurt hotel, German police told several international media outlets, including Reuters and AFP.
According to a police spokeswoman, a report was filed showing Ullrich to be "under the influence of alcohol and drugs" and evidence that he "physically attacked and injured" an "escort lady" at the Villa Kennedy Hotel.
Prosecuting attorney Nadja Niesen told AFP that a police investigation was underway for "grievous bodily harm."
Ullrich's legal team had not responded to messages left by Paste BN Sports on Friday.
Ullrich, 44, won the Tour de France in 1997 — the only German to do so — and also claimed gold and silver medals at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. He admitted to doping in 2013 after receiving a two-year ban from the sport.
