Week 15 fantasy football tips

A few additional fantasy nuggets to help owners set their Week 15 lineups, including injuries, a key sit/start matchup and the stat of the week.

Injury report

Be sure to check the Paste BN Fantasy Sports player notes for the latest updates prior to kickoff.

RB Jamaal Charles, Chiefs (questionable)
Practice time limited as he's dealing with ankle and knee injuries. Could still share time and have a big day vs. Raiders.

QB Cam Newton, Panthers (out)
Out indefinitely following an auto accident. Backup Derek Anderson threw for 230 yards and two TDs vs. Buccaneers in Week 1.

WR Julio Jones, Falcons (questionable)
Hip injury suffered Monday night may be the only thing that can slow him down after racking up 516 yards, 3 TDs in past three weeks.

WR Torrey Smith, Ravens (questionable)
Served as a decoy in limited action last week after knee acted up in warmups. Kamar Aiken could be a sneaky play.

RB Eddie Lacy, Packers (questionable)
Fantasy owners understandably nervous over even minor hip soreness, but it looks like he should be fine.

WR Andre Johnson, Texans (questionable)
Looking to return from concussion to face the Colts after posting a season-high seven catches, 99 yards, TD vs. them in Week 6.

RB Denard Robinson, Jaguars (out)
Foot sprain puts an early end to what was looking like a breakout season. Toby Gerhart likely to take over starting duties.

TE Julius Thomas, Broncos (questionable)
After he was active but didn't play last week, fantasy owners should be cautious. Another late kickoff complicates matters.

Key matchup

START: RB Fred Jackson, Bills

Jackson only had 35 rushing yards in Week 14, but his 10 receptions for 37 yards helped salvage the day. Look for his dual-threat ability to be on full display against the Green Bay Packers, who have struggled against combo running backs. His $5,400 salary in FantasyScore is a solid value.

SIT: RB Ryan Mathews, Chargers

Mathews has produced nicely (5.1 yards per carry) since returning from injury. However, running lanes will be tough to find against the Denver Broncos, who allow 72.8 rushing yards a game. Mathews is reasonably priced at $5,700 in FantasyScore, but the potential reward doesn't outweigh the risk.

Stat of the week

48.4

Reception percentage for Tampa Bay Buccaneers' WR Vincent Jackson (60 receptions in 124 targets), a figure that ranks 29th and last among the wideouts who have been targeted 100 or more times this season. Jackson is also averaging a career-low 14.4 yards per catch which, if it holds, will be a full three yards below the 17.4 career average he carried into the season.
