Sluggers on the rebound top start/sit list for Week 21
Whether fantasy baseball owners are in Rotisserie, head-to-head or points leagues, lineup decisions are crucial to success. Every week, we'll tell you which batters to start and sit for their upcoming week's worth of games.
(Note: Lineups, matchups and schedules subject to change.)
START
OF Randal Grichuk, St. Louis Cardinals (NYM 3, OAK 3)
It has been a bust of a season for Grichuk, but he's in the midst of a mini-surge that has brightened the outlook. Grich hit .385 with three homers in his first seven games back from his second demotion to the minors. Most of his issues have been mental, and the hot stretch could do wonders for him as we near September.
OF Domingo Santana, Milwaukee Brewers (COL 3, PIT 4)
Here's another young horse looking for a rebound in the outfield. He was 5-for-9 (.555) on his rehab assignment, and he'll hit in the heart of the order. He has big power, and he'll have an extra game at home this week to see if he can unleash it.
2B Ryan Schimpf, San Diego Padres (CHC 3, @MIA 3)
Schimpf's power has been one of the season's biggest surprises; he hit his 13th and 14th homers Friday night. The batting average is low, but his numbers are comparable Brian Dozier's from his breakout season in 2013. The front part of the week doesn't look as good as the back part, but Schimpf should be owned and started.
1B Clint Robinson, Washington Nationals (@BAL 2, BAL 2, COL 3)
Robinson is expected to play semi-regularly with Ryan Zimmerman (wrist) working his way back from the disabled list. The lefty-swinging Robinson will have seven games against two weak pitching staffs to continue his recent hot hitting.
SIT
2B Jurickson Profar, Texas Rangers (@CIN 2, CLE 4)
Profar was one of the hottest players in baseball a couple of months ago, but now he's one of the most frigid. He could lose a couple of starts with two games in an NL park. It's a week to mix and match someone else for your middle infield spot.
OF Odubel Herrera, Philadelphia Phillies (@CWS 2, @NYM 3)
Herrera is having a fine season, but this might be a week to play the matchups. He only has five games, and the Phillies are slated to face two left-handers. Herrera has struggled against southpaws all season.
