Your complete fantasy football guide to Week 6

Fantasy owners are accustomed to the up-and-down nature of young quarterbacks. Last week second-year signal-caller Marcus Mariota of the Tennessee Titans had one of his best games as a pro, throwing for three touchdowns and running for another against the Miami Dolphins.

But consistency is the one thing fantasy owners crave, and Mariota hasn't been able to string several good games in a row together. This week, he'll face the Cleveland Browns' 26th-ranked pass defense -- one that's allowed 13 TD passes, the most in the AFC. This is a good opportunity for Mariota to show he can be a valuable fantasy performer.

Speaking of fantasy value, let’s start with the one thing most fantasy owners want to know ...

Who should I start?

The most basic question of them all. The best thing to do is check our updated Week 6 rankings, courtesy of FantasySharks.com.

Who’s in?

– Colin Kaepernick. The San Francisco 49ers officially made the quarterback change this week, so we'll see if Kaepernick can inject some life into the NFL's 31st-ranked offense. He's not worth starting in standard fantasy leagues, but he could help improve the value of WRs Torrey Smith and Jeremy Kerley.

– Carson Palmer. He missed last Thursday's game with a concussion, but is back at practice and handling all the first-team reps. Feel confident putting him in your lineup on Monday night. The Jets have the NFL's second-worst pass defense.

 Who’s out?

– Eric Decker. The Jets put Decker on injured reserve this week and he'll undergo season-ending surgery on his shoulder. Now it's time for Quincy Enunwa to step up as the complementary option to Brandon Marshall.

Who’s questionable?

– Latavius Murray. Another practice missed with turf toe. It looks like another week of DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard splitting the workload in Oakland.

-- Theo Riddick. Both he and Dwayne Washington missed practice on Thursday with ankle injuries, which helps explain why the Lions signed ex-Raven Justin Forsett this week. It's probably too much to ask Forsett to jump right in and be a fantasy-worthy start, but keep an eye on this situation going foward.

Every week, we highlight the top injury concerns fantasy owners are facing. But remember, everything is subject to change, so be sure to make one final check before kickoff.

Where’s the extra edge?

– Still torn over which borderline players to sit or start? Marc Caviglia of Bruno Boys Fantasy Football examines some of this week’s tough calls.

– For The Win's Steven Ruiz has this week’s fantasy studs, duds and sleepers.

-- If you're looking for some players who could emerge unexpectedly this week and be worth starting in deep leagues ... or who could put you over the top in daily fantasy, check out these deep sleepers from TheFantasyGreek.com.
