Fantasy football injury report: Jordy Nelson on road to recovery
Here are some of the injury questions that will impact fantasy owners the most in Week 3:
All players designated as questionable unless otherwise noted.
WR Jordy Nelson, Green Bay Packers
Perhaps the best possible news for Nelson owners: he was a full go in practice on Wednesday. Nelson played only seven snaps Sunday before exiting with a quadriceps injury. His return would be huge considering fellow wideout Randall Cobb sat out Wednesday's session with a sore shoulder.
TE Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots
Don't be too concerned just yet with his non-participation in practice. Rest is best for Gronk's groin, so the Pats may wait a little longer before he attempts to test it. Even if he's less than 100% on Sunday, he could still be better than most other tight end options.
RB Jay Ajayi, Miami Dolphins
A lingering knee injury kept him from suiting up for Wednesday drills. Again, it's early in the week, but fantasy owners need him in their lineups this week against a Jets defense that ranks dead last against the run.
RB DeMarco Murray, Tennessee Titans
Hamstring problems likely contributed to Murray only getting nine carries and two targets in Week 2 -- while backup Derrick Henry rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown. Murray owners have to be a little worried, especially with the Seattle Seahawks' 7th-ranked defense up next.
Fantasy rankings: Top players at each position for Week 3
RB Rob Kelley, Washington Redskins
At least we now know he didn't suffer any broken ribs ...but partially torn cartilage is nothing to sneeze at. (Because that would really hurt!) Samaje Perine (21 carries on Sunday) would take over as the early-down back if Kelley is limited. Chris Thompson is likely the better fantasy play as the change-of-pace and receiving back.
RB Jordan Howard, Chicago Bears
Various reports had Howard with his arm in a sling after Sunday's game, and he was limited in practice on Wednesday with a shoulder injury. This could be another situation where the backup (in this case, Tarik Cohen) is a better fantasy play than the starter.
QB Sam Bradford, Minnesota Vikings
Not much has changed from last week, when Bradford was able to practice on a limited basis, but unable to go on Sunday. Case Keenum was even more conservative in Week 2 than Bradford has been during his Vikings tenure, completing 20-of-37 passes for 167 yards.
TE Jimmy Graham, Seattle Seahawks
A sprained ankle kept Graham from suiting up on Wednesday. That might be more of an issue if Graham had more than four catches for nine yards in his first two games.
TE Jordan Reed, Washington Redskins
Reed could be this week's version of Odell Beckham Jr. -- a potentially elite starter if healthy, but playing in one of the prime-time games after most all other options are extinguished. He sat out Wednesday due to rib and chest injuries, making him a likely game-time decision.
TE Evan Engram, New York Giants
In a fairly surprising development, Engram has been placed in the NFL's concussion protocol. There was no indication of any injury after the game, in which the rookie caught four passes for 49 yards and a touchdown. The tight end carnage continues.
WR Corey Davis, Tennessee Titans (out)
Another talented rookie, Davis tweaked his hamstring on Sunday and finished with only one catch for four yards. A similar injury kept him out for several weeks during the preseason. The Titans hope an extra week of rest is all he'll need.
