Fantasy football injury report: Alvin Kamara, Joe Mixon look to clear concussion protocol
Yes, we know all about Aaron Rodgers being cleared to play this week. But that's such a major development that it has its own post. Here are some of the other injury questions that will impact fantasy owners the most in Week 15:
All players designated as questionable unless otherwise noted.
RB Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints
After missing last week's game with a concussion, Kamara has returned to practice and is on track to play on Sunday against the New York Jets. Despite missing that game and playing sparingly at the beginning of the season, Kamara ranks third among running backs in fantasy points.
Fantasy rankings: How the players stack up at each position in Week 15
RB Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals
This rookie running back hasn't progressed as far as Kamara has in the concussion protocol. After also sitting out last week's game, Mixon did not practice on Wednesday. Keep a close eye on his progress over the next couple days. If he doesn't get clearance, it will mean another heavy workload for Giovani Bernard.
TE Zach Ertz, Philadelphia Eagles
Starting to sense a pattern here. Ertz passed his concussion tests and was close to suiting up on Sunday, only to be declared inactive when he developed a dull headache. The Eagles did just fine with Trey Burton catching five passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns. They both could thrive this week against the New York Giants, who give up the most fantasy points to tight ends in the league.
QB Tyrod Taylor, Buffalo Bills
With backup quarterback Nathan Peterman leaving early last week with a concussion, the Bills had to turn to third-stringer Joe Webb. Fortunately, Taylor's knee has progressed to the point where he was able to go through a full practice on Wednesday. He should regain his starting job for a home game vs. the Miami Dolphins, but don't expect a standout performance. Taylor hasn't thrown for more than 183 yards in a game since Week 9.
WR Kelvin Benjamin, Buffalo Bills
Benjamin aggravated a knee injury in the snow last week against the Indianapolis Colts. He did play enough to grab his first touchdown pass since being traded from Carolina. Don't expect a lot of practice time during the week, but he would give Taylor another weapon if he's able to play on Sunday against the Dolphins.
WR Robert Woods, Los Angeles Rams
Woods had just started to become a major threat when he suffered a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the past three games. However, he was close to returning to action last week and should be good to go when the Rams take on the depleted Seattle Seahawks secondary. Consider him a high-ceiling pick for a flex spot in your playoff lineup.
