Here are some of this season's top breakout candidates who could dramatically outperform their average draft positions (ADPs as of Aug. 26 via NFFC):

QUARTERBACK

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars (ADP: 115): Canton-caliber talent, underrated receiving corps, a strong pass-catching running back, plus a good enough offensive line and a lame defense mean opportunities galore..

RUNNING BACK

D'Andre Swift, Detroit Lions (ADP: 27): Poised to see significantly more attempts in a run-heavy system. Major upside in PPR thanks to a weak WR corps.

WIDE RECEIVER

Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers (ADP: 59): Year 2's biggest concern is which QB starts, but creative calls and Aiyuk's versatility can mitigate the risk.

TIGHT END

Adam Trautman, New Orleans Saints (ADP: 157): No Michael Thomas for roughly one-third of the season opens ample targets. He'll be a red-zone presence either way.

KICKER

Matt Gay, Los Angeles Rams (ADP: 245): Overall offensive improvement with Matthew Stafford at quarterback all but assures him top-tier kicker status.

DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS

New York Giants (ADP: 249): Formidable upgrades on defense over the past two years should come to fruition thanks to a favorable schedule.
