Lil Wayne is still trying to be a sports agent
Lil Wayne founded a sports management company called Young Money Sports in 2014. He signed Reggie Northrup out of FSU in March of this year. Northrup didn't go in the NFL draft and currently isn't on a team. By all accounts, this sounds like a slow start.
But he's forging ahead. In a recent interview with Bleacher Report, Lil Wayne explains why he got into the business in the first place, his ability to spot talent, and how it's his job to make sure Northrup is successful. Here's the video:

"We all cut from the same cloth, and it's just that simple. We all from the same type of place, and we all like the same type of things. We all wish we were athletes. They all wish they were rappers…Honestly, it was something that almost felt like it was something I was supposed to do. I also understood that you can actually help these people, these athletes, you can help off them off the field or off the court. Once I figured that out, that's what I wanted to do.
Lil Wayne has been known to have an eye for incredible talent when it comes to rap (he spotted Drake and Nicki Minaj), and he thinks that skill will translate to athletes, too.
"First of all, I had to pay attention to what I was doing as an entrepreneur, as a businessman, and start to notice that you can do that for, not only my fellow artists or the people that's under my label or whatever, musicians, I can do that for an athlete as well," he said. "I can help you, for lack of a better term, shine off the field as well."
Northrup appears in the video as well, and says he trusts Weezy F to get him where he wants to go:
"I feel extremely confident. Even my dad, my dad an older cat but he know about Wayne and the success he had over his career. It don't take rocket science … that he's a very smart guy and that he knows what he's doing."
I will say one thing: Lil Wayne certainly is passionate about athletics, if [insert his millions of lyrics having to do with sports here] is any indication.
