Usain Bolt on what was going through his head in that famous smiling photo
When winning one of his three golds in Rio de Janeiro, Usain Bolt inadvertently posed for one of the most famous pictures of the 2016 Olympics. While on the Today Show on Thursday, he talked about the picture that became so famous.
"It was funny, and it went viral. People kept on saying, 'Why were you smiling? I was like, 'I was just happy! I keep on smiling!'" Bolt said.
He isn't quite finished with running yet. He plans to compete at the 2017 World Championships in London, because the city that hosted the 2012 Olympics means so much to him.
He's also working to build a clinic in Jamaica.
"When I was growing up, the biggest problem for athletes was getting injured. When we would get injured, we didn't get the best medical care, especially if you were from the rural areas," Bolt said. "I decided to build a clinic so it would be cheaper for the younger ones so they would get better medical care because I have great connections and I can help them get healthy and get back on track."
