Joel Embiid’s first quarter was worth the wait

Philadelphia 76ers fans waited two years for this moment: Joel Embiid is back.

Embiid made his first professional basketball appearance Tuesday in a preseason game against the Celtics, and, oh buddy, let's get that hype train rolling.

After missing his first three shots, which we'll toss out as nerves, Embiid took over the closing minutes of the first quarter.

He scored his first points off a knee-buckling post move.

So great.

Then he showed off on defense, brutally rejecting Jaylen Brown's dunk attempt at the rim.

And just for good measure, Embiid has some range. He hit a deep jumper late in the quarter with his foot on the three-point line.

That quarter was why Sixers fans Trust(ed) the Process (and tried to forget about Ben Simmons' foot surgery).
