HS RB hurdles defender during 73-yard TD run
This is Clairton's Lamont Wade. He's about to leave your jaw on the floor:
There's so much about this run that could have gone wrong - let's start with the juggled snap that pops in the air and lands in Wade's hands.
Then, he avoids a would-be tackler with a spectacular hurdle and bounces off another, doesn't step out of bounds and he's off to the end zone for a 73-yard score.
There's also the fact that officials didn't throw a flag for hurdling, which is illegal in high school football. From Paste BN High School Sports in 2015:
Here is the actual wording of the rule, which is Rule 9, Section 4, Article 3, Subject D in the national rulebook: "An attempt by a player to jump (hurdle) with one or both feet or knees foremost over an opponent who is contacting the ground with no part of his body except one or both feet is illegal. Coaches must teach their players of the inherent dangers associated with this illegal act, and game officials must call it when observed."
Was it the fact that the defender was in mid-air, trying to make the play, that led to no call? Because of that, we now have this highlight.
