Auston Matthews' mom was so happy for her son

Auston Matthews played in his first NHL game on Wednesday after being drafted No. 1 by the Toronto Maple Leafs. And he has lived up to the hype so far, scoring three goals through the first two periods against the Senators on Wednesday night. Matthews' mom could not have been any more excited.

She cheered on her son, and the cameras kept cutting to her reactions.

Here are Matthews' first and second goals.

Before his debut, Matthews told reporters that his mom was going to be "pretty nervous."

I'm pretty sure she's OK now. Her son is doing just fine.

Matthews scored again in the third period. Stay tuned to see how many goals he has when this one's over.

Update: Matthews finished with four goals - the most ever by a rookie in a debut game - but the Maple Leafs lost in overtime, 5-4.
