18 amazing pairs of cleats worn by NFL players

In today's NFL, it's gotta be the shoes.

Custom cleats continue to be all the rage in the NFL - players and their designers keep coming up with incredible designs, and some of those same players say the league fines them for uniform violations or that officials warn them they'd be benched if they didn't remove their shoes.

While we wait to see what incredible designs for pre- or in-game cleats come next, let's look back at some of the most creative kicks:

1. DeSean Jackson, Week 4, 2016

Here's what he said about these cleats covered in police tape from the Washington Redskins' Week 4 matchup against the Cleveland Browns:

"Today is the start of my attempts to be part of a solution and start dialogue about the senseless killings of both citizens and police. I have chosen to wear these cleats in pregame today to use my platform as a pro athlete to add to this discussion. This isn't meant to be any kind of protest against the good men and women in law enforcement in this country. I just to express my concern in a peaceful and productive way about the issues that are currently impacting our country."
