Marshall: Smith punched 'adversity in the face'

The last time Geno Smith was set to be the New York Jets starting quarterback, he suffered a setback that led to Ryan Fitzpatrick becoming the starter: In 2015, Smith was sucker-punched by then-teammate IK Enemkpali during training camp, breaking his jaw.

It seems, we've now come full circle. Just check out what teammate Brandon Marshall said to reporters on Wednesday about Smith, who's set to start this weekend ( via NJ.com):

"It has been amazing to see this guy grow," Marshall said Wednesday. "Really punch adversity in the face."

Hmm. Did Marshall know what he was referring to when he said that? We don't know for sure, but if he didn't, that's the most ironic choice of words he could have made.
