Seahawks kicker's name spelled wrong for years

A Seattle-area Q13 Fox photographer was double-checking a name-spelling with Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka this fall when the photographer stumbled upon a bizarre bit of news: Steven's name is actually Stephen, and everyone - the Seahawks, the NFL, all of us - have been spelling it wrong for years.

He just never corrected anyone.

How this happened?

From Q13:

"There was a little mix-up in college," Hauschka said.

On top of that, Hauschka doesn't prefer Stephen, or even Steven.

"Uh … I just like to go by Steve," he said.

Hauschka went to Middlebury College in Vermont where he was a member of the soccer team before deciding to try kicking the football full time. I want to know more details about how his college got his name wrong, and how he just decided to let it slide for, I don't know, a decade? How does that happen?

Well, for now, let's just call him "Steve."
