This Carson Wentz flop should anger Cam Newton

There's no way around it: If Carson Wentz can get a penalty on his slide against the Giants, then Cam Newton should be furious.

On Monday, Newton was penalized for his unsportsmanlike reaction to a helmet-to-helmet hit while he was sliding. The hit that caused the reaction was not penalized, but it absolutely should have been.

Fast forward to Thursday night, and Wentz slid close to a first down. The Giants' Eli Apple did everything he could to pull up on the play, and didn't actually hit Wentz. While sliding, Wentz initiated contact with Apple and finished it off with a dramatic flop. It was good enough to draw an unnecessary roughness penalty.

There is no denying that there was some contact between Wentz and Apple, but there likely wouldn't have been a penalty if not for Wentz's exaggerated reaction.

Yet, somehow, this isn't a penalty?

Newton has every right to be upset.
