Chris Conley took a brutal hit to the head.
The subject of tackling in the NFL is a tricky one to navigate, in large part because there's no real agreement on any one solution. Indeed, during the Steelers Wild Card game against the Dolphins, many saw this hit on Miami quarterback Matt Moore as fair game.
But as the debate rages, we're forced to watch players swallow hits like this one, which Chris Conley took in the 4th quarter of the Chiefs' 18-16 playoff loss to the Steelers. The play was flagged for 15 yards, but Conley passed concussion protocol and was back in the game just one play later.
The hit was so bad he even got the Wikipedia treatment.
After the game, he said the hit was more to the back of his head.
Thankfully he's fine, but regardless, just because this one seemingly turned out fine doesn't mean others will, too. Yes, it was a penalty, but until the NFL cracks down on all hits that aren't making contact at players waist, these will still be the norm.
