25 reasons being a Knicks fan is depressing

Outside of maybe Browns fans, there may be no unhappier task in sports, rooting for the New York Knicks. Why, you ask? Well, let me tell you…

1. The Knicks' last championship came in 1973

2. The team landed Patrick Ewing and still never won a title

3. Even iconic Knicks players have heartbreaking moments

4. Like, really heartbreaking moments

5. And embarrassing ones

6. The Knicks lost in the Eastern Conference Semis seven times in 10 years between 1988-89 and 1997-98

7. Then, between the 2001-02 season and the 2009-10 season, they only made one playoff appearance

8. That period overlapped with a 12-season stretch of never getting past the first round of the playoffs

9. Despite consistently having one of the highest payrolls in the league

10. But even still, Isiah Thomas is still lurking around the organization

12. The team constantly makes bad deals for first round picks

It had just four first-rounders between 1998 and 2004, and only two from 2010 to 2014.

12. They also drafted Frederic Weis with Ron Artest available

13. The Knicks hired one of the best GMs in sports and still couldn't make it work

14. And just as it was about to work, they sabotaged it all with one trade

15. Which is partly how the Knicks wasted Carmelo's prime

16. Now, many fans have come to resent its star

17. And to make matters worse, they can't even trade him

18. It's all made worse by the constant in-fighting

19. The very questionable personnel decisions

20. And the myth that one good free agent can fix it all

21. (Which the team is paying Phil Jackson $12 million a year for)

21. Ticket prices are still crazy expensive

22. Finally, two words: James. Dolan.

23. But at least the Knicks have Kristaps Porzingis now

24. And through all the pain, every true Knicks stays loyal

25. Because they know that when they finally get there, it'll all be worth it
