Player thinks he's being subbed in when coach wants water

Nets forward Quincy Acy averages 12.5 minutes per game this season. He's not a benchwarmer, but he's certainly not at the top of the rotation.

That may have played a role in an embarrassing mixup from Thursday's game against the Knicks. He had a reasonable expectation to play.

Coach Kenny Atkinson signaled to the bench, and Acy immediately jumped up from his seat to enter the game. The problem: Atkinson just wanted water.

Ah, that's rough. He was so excited.

Acy would see some minutes though. Through three quarters, he played 13 minutes. Atkinson would also stay hydrated.
