19 best animals that invaded sporting events
Everyone can't stop talking about the cat that invaded Marlins Park on Tuesday night, and really, that's the right move.
That is a very good cat. And most times, animals invading sporting events is delightful, sometimes hilarious, occasionally disastrous for the team on the field, and, once, tragic.
Let's look back at some other notable animals on the field/court/ice/track/course moments:
1. This dog who interrupted a college baseball game
2. This very good dog who just wanted a belly rub from soccer players
3. This dog who loves cricket
4. A cat who wanted to be close to the action at a Rangers game
5. The famous black cat that cursed the Chicago Cubs in 1969
Back in 1969, the Cubs blew a sizable lead in the National League, and while facing a New York Mets team chasing them in the standings, this little fella ran around Ron Santo who was standing in the on-deck circle. Eventually, the Cubs failed to make it to the playoffs.
6. These midges that threw off Joba Chamberlain in a playoff game
Insects count as animals, right? If so, these pesky little bugs in Cleveland were all over the poor Yankees reliever, who lost his control in the second game of the 2007 ALDS.
7. Bees
8. BEES
9. BEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!
10. The famous octopi thrown at Detroit Red Wings games
Aright, this isn't technically an animal jumping on the ice by itself to delay a game, but we'll count it.
11. The fish tossed at a New Hampshire hockey game
If hockey octopi count, so do fish.
12. This game-delaying squirrel at Lambeau Field
13. The St. Louis Rally Squirrel
Speaking of famous squirrels, how about this one that "helped" the St. Louis Cardinals win a ring in 2011?
