Pierce has best response to Celtics' No. 1 pick

Paul Pierce got a good laugh from the result of the NBA draft lottery on Tuesday night.

The team he won a championship with, the Boston Celtics - a team that's about to take on the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals - got the No. 1 pick. Pierce hilariously tweeted (with the perfect emojis, I should add) that it was his parting gift for his old franchise as he retires from the league.

Here's why this is all so funny:

The Celtics were able to get the top pick after just being the No. 1 seed in the East this season because of an abysmal trade the Nets made with them in 2013. Pierce was involved in that trade.

Brooklyn receives: Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Jason Terry and D.J. White

Boston receives: Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks, Kris Joseph, Keith Bogans, three first-round picks (2014, 2016 and 2018), plus the right to swap first-rounders in 2017.

So in a way, this was a gift from Pierce to his former team, sort of.

Oh, and, as you can see above, the Celtics are getting the Nets' first-round pick next year too. Congrats, Boston.
