Musician in Nashville plays Stanley Cup-shaped bass
What do you do when you love hockey as much as music? Build a standing bass that's actually an amazing replica of the Stanley Cup, of course.
And that's exactly what Canadian musician Shane Chisholm did, lugging his life-size, Stanley Cup instrument around with him to different shows in Nashville, CBC Radio's Day 6 reported. According to the station, this masterpiece is made from several pots and pans - as well as an Ikea salad bowl - with a mini hockey stick sometimes attached to the top. It also weighs about 23 kilograms or around 50 pounds.
Chisholm is apparently a Boston Bruins fan, but with the Predators' underdog run through the Stanley Cup Playoffs - Game 3 of the finals against the Pittsburgh Penguins is Saturday in Nashville - and because he performs so much in Music City, he's rooting for the home team.
He performed with it in Tennessee for the first time several months prior, right as the Predators were gaining steam.
"Someone in the audience had asked, 'What is that?' And I go, 'Well it's Stanley Cup. I wanted to show Nashville what it looks like'," he says.
"You know the joke's [now] going to be that Nashville is going to show me what it looks like."
