Lexi on missing a putt that (almost) cost her $1 mil
2017 has been, to say the least, a rollercoaster year for Lexi Thompson. A stellar year on the course which included two wins and a victory for the U.S. in the Solheim Cup was marred by a brutally unfortunate ruling that cost her a major at the ANA Inspiration in April. Off the course, Thompson revealed midway through the season that her mother had been undergoing treatment for cancer, but that she was given the all-clear a few months later.
On Sunday, her season almost took one more twist.
On the final hole of the CME Group Tour Championship, Lexi had a mere tap-in to win the tournament and the season-long Race to the CME Globe, which includes a $1 million. It was two feet; a formality.
Until it wasn't.

It cost her the the tournament and, for a time, looked like it could've prevented her from winning the $1 million season-long prize, too. But that permutations didn't arrive. She won the season-long contest, and afterwards, she downplayed the role the prize played leading to that potentially scary miss.
"It didn't affect me. I wasn't thinking about [the $1 million prize]. I putted great the whole day. I guess, maybe, there was just a little bit of adrenaline. We all go through situations we don't like sometimes."
